Oxbridge Academic Programs

oxbridge2Oxbridge Academic Programs has been welcoming intellectually adventurous high school and junior high school students to Europe for nearly 25 years. Professor James Basker, who founded The Oxford Tradition after earning degrees from both Oxford and Cambridge, has designed these programs specifically for students in grades 8 to 12 – all with the goal of giving young people the opportunity to live and study in the historic and scholarly centers of learning that are Oxford and Cambridge in England, Barcelona in Spain, and Paris and Montpellier in France. These cities become our classrooms – the best classrooms in the world.

The Richard Gilder Professor of Literary History at Barnard College, Columbia University, Professor Basker studied at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar where he completed his doctorate in English literature, and at Cambridge where he earned his MA. Having felt that his own experiences in Europe had been personally transformative, he was moved to replicate the experience for high school students when he founded a summer school at Oxford in 1985. Since then, Oxbridge Academic Programs has established programs for middle and high school students in Oxford, Cambridge, Paris, Montpellier in the South of France, and Barcelona in Spain.
